Roy Naughton GradDip.(Arch.), Pre-Dip.Cert.(Arch.), B.Sc.(Arch.) Hons., B.E. (Civil) Hons.  Practice Founder & Director Roy founded the practice in 2009 with a mission of providing responsive and innovative design of a high  technical standard, coupled with a quality project management service, to our clients. Roy has a particular  interest in architectural conservation and in sustainable design, and he strives to adopt low energy  principles, where possible, in all our projects.  Roy has over 15 years of experience working in architectural and engineering practices of varying sizes  both in Ireland and the UK. These leading world and Irish Architectural Firms include;   Skidmore Owings and Merrill Architects (SOM), London & Chicago;  Sheppard Robson Corgan Architects, London & Texas;  Paul Keogh Architects, Dublin; O’Connor Keogh & Mulcaire Architects, Galway; Galway City Council Planning Department as the City Conservation Architect.  Projects on which Roy was Senior Architect have received an RIAI National Award, a LAMA Award and an  Irish Architectural Award and have been widely published in Architectural and Construction Journals.  Roy began his professional education, studying Civil Engineering at University College Galway, where he  graduated with honours. Roy then moved to London and studied Architecture at University College  London’s acclaimed Bartlett School of Architecture, Planning and Urban Design, where he graduated with  honours (Part 1 Examinartions). Roy was the recipient of the Carpenter Award of Excellence for his  Post-Graduate Diploma in Architecture Studies (Part 2 Examinations) at the Bartlett. Roy studied for his RIAI Professional Practice in Architecture Examinations (Part 3 Examinations) at  University College Dublin, where he was the Silver Medallist Recipient being awarded ‘Highly  Commended’. Roy’s architectural project for his Part 3 Examination, on which he was acting as Senior  Architect, was Crèche and Pre-School Tír an Fhia, An Leitir Móir, Co. Galway. This building subsequently  was awarded ‘Selected for Exhibition, at the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards 2007.   Roy has also studied and qualified as;  An RIAI Architect Accredited in Conservation at Grade 3;  Registered Passive House Designer;  Project Supervisor Design Process;  Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Site Suitability Assessor for On-Site Domestic Waste Water Treatment Systems; Building Information Modelling (BIM) Specialist;  As a skilled designer and problem solver, Roy has extensive experience in designing, co-ordinating and  project managing projects spanning across the entire spectrum of architecture. He has acted as Architect  with a number of practices on key projects such as; A range of Private Houses;  A range of Housing and Apartment Developments;  Conservation of Historic Structures, including the Former Royal Hospital Complex, Kilmainham,  Dublin;  Churches, including Galway Cathedral Crypt Conservation & Restoration;  National Schools; Museums, including the Children’s Museum, Heuston, Dublin & the Donegal Discovery Centre;  Medical Centres & Primary Healthcare Centres, including the award winning Dromod PHC,   Co. Leitrim, which was recipient of the RIAI National Tidy Towns Architectural Award 2005 and  the National LAMA Award 2006;  Crèches including the award winning Crèche and Pre-School Tír an Fhia, An Leitir Móir,   Co. Galway;  Hotels & Guesthouses; Offices, including Tower 42 London and Warner Brothers, London.
